Determination of Sodium Cyclamate

Abstract
Determination of sod. cyclamate was studied by the Benzidine-HCI Method.
Socium cyclamate was decomposed by heating with diluted HCI and 10% NaNo_(2), and sulfateions liberated from sod. cyclamate were completely precipitated as benzidine-sulfate. The precipitate of benzidine-sulfate was fully washed with distilled water.
This precipitate was dissolved by heating with ditilled water 100§¢ and titrated with N/20-NaOH solution.(indicator; phenolphthalein in alcohol)
We could calculate the amounts of sod. cyclamate from the titrated N/20 NaOH soln.
This method is thought to be very convenient and accurate way for the determination of sod. cyclamate.
